I read the book Bella which is the retelling of Beauty and the Beast. I didn't really like the book, it was weird and a little to different. I mean I get it's a retelling and all but it's just that the Beauty met the the Beast and it was just awkward, there was know chemistry, no connection with each other.

In Vanity Fair, the way people act makes me think about if thats how they actted in 1800's. They were so driven by money and power. I can't feel bad for the characters because you know it's not going to end well for them. I watched the trailer for the movie that based on the book which I'm about 150 pages in to it out of 700 something, but the movie looks really good! I want to finish the book frist before I go and get the movie.

Again I'm still reading Vanity Fair, what a hard book! I feel like I read for ever and only get ten pages done...it's kinda of frustrating! But I do really like it, how all the characters are intertwined and how the silliest thing can make people change. It makes me really like that we don't live in a socsity like this, that how other people think and feel could change the way we live.

I started reading the book Vanity Fair by William Makepeace Thackeray. The reason I picked up this book was because my friend was reading it and said it was one of her all time reads, so I picked it up. The book was written in 1847 so it's harder to read with the different style of English. There is also a lot a French culture in the book that I'm not very familer with but it has footnotes in the back of the book which go into a little detaile about what they are talkking about. So far I'm likeing the book very much

As I'm reading Memoir of a Geisha, I really feel for the characters. It's like your watching from out side and you see all the actions they do and sometime you just want to stop them from doing things that will hurt them cause you know about something another character then they do. Again I really learning all this culture about Japan and how people got though World War Two and how it even hit the wealthy classes.

The book I'm reading is called Memoirs of a Geisha by Arthur Golden. I first saw the movie and really liked it also in the movie I like the music so that was even more of a plus. What I really like about the book is that it tells the whole story, from an outside view. I mean there is still the main characters feelings of being talking away from her family and put into a life of which she knows nothing about. So far I really enjoy the book, and the way it goes in to detain about all the culture and Japanese things I don't know about.

When I think of war I think of the book War and Peace by Leo Tolstoy. The book is depicting the war of 1812 in Russia. It's a book called War and Peace without the peace part. The war of 1812 like ALL wars was brutal and with a horrendous amount of causalities. It's not so much about the war it's self but the leading up to the war, and how people deal with the war. I believe that war is destructive, it pulls families apart, and puts people up against each other who wouldn't be against each other normally.

What I read was an article about NATO giving the green light for fighting Afghan drag trade.  Over the  years the Afghan opium production has become a increasing, 25 of the major  allies banded together and all agreed on what they should do. I think this will effect us in a very small way, but I think in the long run it will be very helpful cutting down on both drug production and terrorism. NATO says that only drug producers that are giving as much as $80 million annually to the Taliban will targeted by the military. From the Star Tribune by News Services

Poverty, when you hear that word what do you think of? Those T.V ads about the staving children in Africa and how your dollar a day care get them the care they need? Well I think about a lot poverty is every where, it's here in Minnesota. I think that once we get people living at an good standard, then we can go on with the other problems in this world.

A different culture is the Asiatic Eskimos. They live in the upper part of Russia and up until the Soviet Union came into play were untouched by outside world but they did do a lot of trading with Europe. They regard them selves as peaceful and well-wishing people. Since they didn't have as much contact with other people there langue and culture is less phased by the Europe culture.

I'm about half way thorough The Color Purple by Alice Walker, this is the second time I have read this book. When I re-read books I feel like I get more out of them, I also feel more connected with the characters. In The Color Purple my favorite character is Sofia she is a strong independent women till the end. She doesn't change who she is for anyone, Sofia is so amazing in how she acts during the time period in she as a women had very little power. I love reading on how she finds power even when everybody is against her, how she finds strength with in to keep fighting.

My text about is the song The Resolution by Jack's Mannequin. This song is about hope "And I'm alive And I don't need a witness, To know that I survived." The back round is that the singer had cancer, so the song is about how he fought the cancer. I really like this song because is use read good metaphors for things, "To find my body is still burning," I think this represents when he was going though chemo because of the way it's like poison going though your veins. This song really shows how the positive thinking works.

The book that I'm reading is called The Blood Rites of Man. It's all about the right of man to go to war. I believe that going to war or not is a very important part of life. I now I'm not just talking about the big wars like World War One and stuff I'm talking about the war we have with our selves or with each other. I mean some times you just have to stop and think about conflicts, like is it worth your time to get in to conflicts? And also it's not all about winning the 'war' is about did you grow to be a better person? I believe that a lot of the time growing in to a better person may start by on getting in to the 'war' in the beginning. Some times it seems that getting into 'wars' may seem like that only way out of a situation, so then you have to make a choice of what to do.

I read a book called The Blood Read Horse by K.M Grant. The book is set during the time of crusades. It goes through starting when the chactor's are little and then when they grow up and become teens. It also folows the growth of Will's horse, who was a very small and weak foal. They didn't think the horse would live but Will stayed with the horse and nursed it. I really enjoy this book because it shows different side of the war's, one side shows the war and other shows whats going on at home. I really like this book because it seems like a good book for both boys and girls.

I'm reading a book called Freaky Green Eyes by Joyce Carol Oates. what made me pick up this book was the name, it just really stood up to me as a interesting book. I'm not very far into it but I really like the way it flows, how every thing is connected. I also feel like the reader doesn't know all the sides of the story, like there is still things we need to know to complete the connections.  I hope the book keeps up the edge that it's has.

One of the big things about natural disasters is the massive clean up they bring. After any disaster there is always a large clean up. When a natural disaster hits a Third world country they have to pay for the clean up, this puts them into billions of dollars in debt because of clean up. Not only do they lose money but also the lives of the people that live and breath there. The people who are the driving part of the work force.

Outside Reading #22

I read a book called Shrimp by Rachel Cohn. The book is the 2rd one in the series and I really do like the first one better. I kinda feel like the there wasn't ought back story for the first book to move on. I wish you new more about the main character when she went to her boarding school because what happen at the school lead to her actions in the book.  Mostly I feel like I don't know why she did these things in the book, so I feel that they could have been more explained.
